RULE OF COMPETITION (SPELLING BEE)

1.     SPELLING BEE (Elementary School)

 This competition has three distinct segments: Preliminaries, semifinals and championship finals.

The rules are arranged as bellow:

1.      Preliminaries  Segment

a.       All of spellers gather in the battle room

b.      Each of spellers will be given a paper/ answer sheet to write down their answers from the adjudicators ‘ questions

c.       Each of spellers should bring their own pen ( not allowed to use pencil)

d.      The adjudicators will give 40 questions for each spellers

e.       All spellers will get 30 second to write down their answer on the answer sheet

f.       A timer will push the bell for one time and it’s mean that the time to answer the question is over, then it will be continued with giving the next question

g.      When the adjudicators finish to read 1- 40 questions (words), the timer will push the bell tree times as sign that the first segments (preliminaries segment) is over

h.      The committees will collect the  speller answer sheets to be corrected

i.         The true answer will get 1 point

j.        We will choose 12 spellers based on the scoring and they will continue the next segment

k.      The announcement of big 12 will be done after the scoring process

l.        All of spellers wait outside the battle room

                    2.     Semifinals Segment

Ø  There are 12 speller  who passed the preliminaries in this segment

Ø  The speller will be divided into 3 groups. Each groups consist of 4 spellers

Ø  There are 3 seasons in this segment

a.       First : the speller will get 5 questions (words) from the adjudicators, the spellers answers the questions by turn

b.      Second : the  speller will 5 questions (words) from the chosen envelope

c.       Third : the adjudicators will give 10 questions (words)  to be pinch among the spellers

Ø  For the second and third season, the other spellers can answer/ pinch the answer if the other fail to answer it

Ø  Every question should be answered directly. There will be no repetition for answering nor giving question

Ø  The true answer will get 3 points

Ø  We will choose 3 spellers based on scoring to continue the next segment (one highest score of each group)  

Ø  The announcement of big 3 will be done after scoring process

                          3 .     Finals Segment

Ø  The are three speller who pass the second segment

Ø  There are three seasons in this segment

1.      First : the speller will get 5 (words){ questions from the adjudicators, the spellers answers the questions by turn

2.      Second : the  speller will 1 questions (sentence) from the chosen envelope

3.      Third : the adjudicators will give 15 questions (words) to be pinch among the spellers

Ø  For the second and third season, the other spellers can answer/ pinch the answer if the other fail to answer it.

Ø  Every question should be answered directly. There will be no repetition for answering nor giving question

Ø  The true answer will get 3 points and the false answer will get (-1)

Ø  The winner (first, second, third) will be considered by the total score

Ø  The announcement will be announced on Sunday at the auditorium of STAIN JURAI SIWO METRO

Participant’s Rules:

1.     The participants of Spelling Bee should attend max 15 minutes before the competition is started

2.      The participants are recommended to wear their identity uniform from their own school

3.      Show the participant number

4.      No help out from other sides, if caught by committee. Will be disqualified automatically

5.      Committee decision is final and trust out
