RULE OF COMPETITION (SCRABBLE)

4.       SCRABBLE

In this competition, we will have the Collins Scrabble system. In an English-language set the game contains 100 tiles, 98 of which are marked with a letter and a point value ranging from 1 to 10. The number of points of each lettered tile is based on the letter's frequency in standard English writing; commonly used letters such as E or O are worth one point, while less common letters score higher, with Q and Z each worth 10 points. The game also has two blank tiles that are unmarked and carry no point value. The blank tiles can be used as substitutes for any letter; once laid on the board, however, the choice is fixed. Other language sets use different letter set distributions with different point values. If a player uses all seven of the tiles in the rack in a single play, a bonus of 50 points is added to the score of that play, these bonus points are added after totaling the score for that turn.

Format of competition

• Preliminary round

• In this round we will use Australian draw system. Australian draw is the competition system that usually use in the some competition in Lampung. Format :In the  first match, we will  draw the participants randomly, but in the next match the participants who get the big score will meet the participants who get the big score too, and the participants who get the small score will meet the participants who get the small score too. And the next match too. And in this round we will play 3 games.

•  Octo final round

• The octo finalists is choosen based on the big sixteen rank in the preliminary round, in this round also we will use KoTH (King of The Hill) system, we just choose big two based on the rank of this round final round, and for the third winner we choose from the big three. And we will play 3 games.

• 3.     Final Round

• In this round the game played three times. But if one player has won for two times the game is over and we have the winner.

Rules:

1.  This competition just for senior high school students.
2.  The players will be drawed randomly before being started.
3.  All participants must show their identity tag given by the committee when entering the competition room.
4. During the game, players aren’t allowed to
5. open any kind of dictionary , books , handphone , or other reading materials
6. distract other player's attention in any way
7. leave the location of the game by any cause, unless permitted by the regulator
8.  After the game all players must sign the result sheet, as to agree the final score. Once the score sheet is signed, no objection can be made.
9. The committee reserves the rights to disqualify a player who refused to be subjected to the regulations of the game
10. The committee has full authority with regard to the interpretation and modification, if necessary of these rules. The decision of the committee with respect to these rules will be final and binding.
